Modems - disabling Call Waiting - some phone companies offer their customers the option of temporarily disabling Call Waiting for the duration
of an outgoing call. To determine if you have this service, precede your dialing with *70 (for tone). On a pulse phone use 1170 before your number. Your Call Waiting service will return when the call is over. If this service isn't available from your phone company, you will get a recorded message "... call can't be completed as dialed." If you are using an autodial modem, instruct it to pause (3 seconds or so) between the Call Waiting disabling code and the number you are dialing.
